The clients needed well-considered architectural design on a strict budget. The flat, open plain offered no natural privacy or dominant views to orient the home around, and the build required managing highly reactive soil — all without exceeding budget.

Axis Homes designed a simple, modern layout oriented to capture specific sightlines across the plain. Standard building methods and off-the-shelf materials delivered the architectural result economically, while highly reactive soil conditions were managed by Axis handling the engineering to ensure alignment of the design and budget.

Designed for Southern Tasmania's temperate winters and hot summers, the home included upgraded insulation, a durable Colorbond roof, and an insulated concrete slab to handle the Orielton plain's low lying reactive soils and cold spring wind.
