Why does sustainability matter?

Australian homes are responsible for an estimated 24% of overall electricity use. Efficient homes have a positive impact on the economy, the health and wellbeing of users and reduce the cost of living while increasing comfort. Most importantly energy efficient homes help to slow the effects of carbon emissions.

How do we achieve building a more efficient home?

Put simply by lowering operational energy requirements and by reducing the embodied in a homes construction and maintenance. The embodied energy of a home is a calculation of all the energy used to produce the materials that make up the building. It includes the energy used in mining, manufacturing and transporting the materials, as well as the services in the economy that support these processes.   Operational energy is the energy that is used to run the home, including lighting, appliances, heating, and cooling.
